05/02/2020: We have made it to May, and with Governor Inslee’s newly released plans for reopening Washington State, it seems we will likely be able to hold our show in August. With this said, it is also highly likely that some measures to ensure social distancing and personal safety will be required. Those measures could make this a much different experience than the dog shows we are used to.
OKC’s objective is to host a show at which we all can be safe and to do that; we may have to institute things such as:
A requirement for masks on the show grounds
Some measure of social distancing in areas such as grooming, show schedules, and the number of people we can have on the grounds at any one time.
Procedures to get armbands and adjustments to the ring procedures.
We will be able to define these requirements and rules further as we get procedures and clarification from the CDC, Washington State Department of Health, City of Enumclaw, Enumclaw Expo Center, and AKC. We, as a club, will do our utmost best to get these formulated and distributed as quickly as possible. We know there are apt to be modifications in these requirements up to and possibly even during the show, as we evaluate the effectiveness and workability of our procedures.
Just to be completely clear, Olympic Kennel Club will decide if and how we will allow shows to happen on our grounds, and all specialty and group clubs must follow our procedures and guidelines. We want everyone to enjoy the cluster of shows we have all worked very hard to put together while making sure we are confident that the safety and health of our Judges, exhibitors, vendors, and members can be maintained.
I am so looking forward to seeing all of you again! -Sincerely, Chris Lyden & Liz Swearingen
